China social power consumption surges 16.9% in February

Guangzhou (JLC), March 16, 2022--China’s social electricity consumption reached 623.5 billion KWH in February, a year-on-year surge of 16.9%, the National Energy Administration (NEA) reported on March 15. 

 

By sectors, the primary sector used 7.7 billion KWH of electricity, up 15.4% from a year before, the NEA data shows. The secondary and tertiary sector’s electricity usage was 375.6 billion and 118.2 billion KWH, a surge of 14.5% and 17.4%, respectively. Electricity consumption of the urban and rural residential sector settled at 122.0 billion KWH, an upsurge of 24.8% year on year.

 

The countrys social power consumption totaled 1.3467 trillion KWH in the first two months of 2022, a rise of 5.8% from the same months last year, the data indicates.

 

During January-February, about 16.3 billion, 841.3 billion and 248.8 billion KWH of electricity were consumed in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, rising by 12.8%, 3.4% and 7.2%, respectively, from the same period of time in 2021. For the urban and rural residential sector, the consumption climbed by 13.1% to 240.3 billion KWH.
